Speed Reader is a single-page web application that helps you read text faster using the RSVP (Rapid Serial Visual Presentation) technique.

How It Works

Instead of moving your eyes across lines of text, RSVP displays one word at a time at a fixed focal point. Each word is positioned so that its Optimal Recognition Point (ORP) - highlighted in red - stays centered on a guide line. This eliminates eye movement and allows for faster reading speeds.

Features

• File upload - Load any .txt, .md, or .text file
• Adjustable speed - Set your reading pace from 100 to 1000 words per minute
• ORP highlighting - The optimal recognition point is highlighted in red and always centered
• Progress tracking - See your progress through the text with a progress bar
• Keyboard shortcuts:
  • Space - Play/Pause
  • Arrow Up/Down - Adjust speed
  • R - Reset to beginning

Usage

1. Click “Choose Text File” to upload a text file
2. Adjust the speed slider to your preferred WPM
3. Press Play or hit Space to start reading
4. Use Pause or Space to stop at any time
